With the Shichirin, you can offer a wonderful dinner where all guests can enjoy a summer grill.
But Shichirin is also very popular as a winter grill.
The rectangular Shichirin comes standard with a stainless steel grate, perfect for preparing the most delicious dishes.
Shichirin is made from ceramic quartz, cordierite, and fired at a high temperature.
Thanks to its glazed finish, the ceramic makes the Shichirin very easy to clean.
This tabletop grill can be used with either charcoal briquettes or lump charcoal. The Japanese use Binchotan charcoal — the “black gold” of Japan — which allows reaching extremely high temperatures.
This charcoal burns longer, hotter, and quieter than regular charcoal.
To light Binchotan, it’s best to first create a softer charcoal layer, for example, using acacia charcoal.
Then place the Binchotan diagonally on the hot charcoal bed — this makes it easy to ignite Binchotan.
Binchotan can also be lit with a gas torch, but it takes about 15 minutes.
