Using the infrared thermometer
The infrared thermometer only works when the probe is folded in. Press the IR button to turn on the thermometer. Hold the button down to measure the temperature. When you release the button, the thermometer displays the last measured temperature for 15 seconds and then turns off the screen.

The thermometer’s infrared sensor has a 5:1 ratio, meaning if you measure from 5 cm away, it reads the temperature of a 1 cm diameter area. From 10 cm, it reads a 2 cm area, and so on. The closer you measure, the more accurate the reading. Accuracy also depends on the ambient temperature — the smaller the difference between the air and the surface being measured, the more accurate the thermometer is.

Using the foldable probe
Unfold the probe and insert the tip into the center of the food. Wait a few seconds for an accurate reading.
Note: The greater the difference between the ambient temperature and the food temperature, the longer it may take to get an accurate reading.

The backlight of the thermometer screen stays on for 30 seconds. The thermometer turns off after 3 minutes. To turn it back on, press the Mode button.

Cleaning
Clean the thermometer regularly. The infrared sensor is very sensitive and must always be kept clean. Use a cotton or similarly soft cleaning cloth.
